Who may participate in the programme?
Anybody who didn’t gain access to the university as a result of not meeting the academic standards required for admission may participate. (At the university on account of a low M-Score/Admission Point)

The admission requirements for the programme
To enter the programme, you have to meet the following admission requirements:
- National Senior Certificate (NSC)
- 4 Subjects with achievement level of 3 (40% - 49%)
- University Free State (UFS) Admission Point (AP) between 20 - 24
- Language of instruction: (English) Minimum achievement level 3 (40%)
- Mathematics: Minimum achievement level 3 (40%) for Chemistry, Mathematics and Economics.

In the subject Life Orientation you need an achievement level of 5 (60%) or higher to score only 1 point when calculating your admission Point (AP).
The following admission policy of the University was applicable to all learners who completed their school career before and up to the end of 2007.
MATRICULATION SCORE FORMULA (M-Score)
To be accepted to the University Preparation Programme you must have achieved at least 20 points according to the M-Score.
